The fitness industry is unique in that it offers many different career pathways to those who have the correct certification and like helping other people get fit. You can work with children, adults or seniors. You can choose to work through a health club or resort that offers such training, or you could set up your own Physical Fitness business. It is even possible to see the world by taking a position on a cruise ship as a fitness instructor.

The Australian Institute of Fitness offers accreditation courses in three different ways: –

· Full-time – an 8-week course to fast track your career plans.
· Part-time – for those that must fit lessons around their other work or study.
· Distance – for those who live too far from a training centre to attend in person, or would rather study at home at their own pace.

A fitness career could be just the thing to turn your life around. If you feel unfulfilled and restless, or if you feel that it is hardly worth doing your present work due to dissatisfaction, you need to take control of your life and your future and make a change. Fashion Fitness

Since my cute dark denim jeans don’t fit what about the rest of my clothes? I was unemployed for eight months and so was my wardrobe. My fashion during this time period consisted of a t-shirt, hoodie, jeans or yoga pants, which are pretty forgiving. I would have been a perfect candidate for TLC’s What Not To Wear. Action was required. I needed to try on my clothes and make some executive decisions. I was afraid though. It’s always depressing trying on clothes that don’t fit, but it’s worse to keep them around and torture yourself every time you go to wear them. The adventure began. Many clothes ended up on their way to the Goodwill. I need to buy a few more pairs of pants since I was starting work. However, my funds were limited so only a few essential pieces were on the list. This too was a rude awakening as my pants size jumped up by two since the summer. The jeans I was trying to get back into were in the middle of the before and after so my goal was not unrealistic or unattainable. After this experience my motivation was intensified.

I feel I must interject my disclaimer before I go any further. My body will never look like it did when I was 20. I am a woman now and I have curves and to tell you the truth I love them. Gap even makes curvy jeans just for women like me. I know at what weight I feel comfortable and that’s what I am working towards. I will not be a size four. In fact sign me up for a size eight please. Along with weight management fitness is a great stress reliever and improves overall health and wellness. Who couldn’t use some of that?

As for my wardrobe I was limited. I needed to step up my fashion game as well; the key accessories. All you need to update an outfit are a few accessories. Here are several ways to help get ideas. Window shopping; I know it can be torture if you are not buying but remember it’s about ideas and working with what you got. Catalogues and magazines are also a good source for ideas. Check out what some other fashionistas are wearing. For example you can take a pair of jeans a white t-shirt and maybe an old suit jacket; voila a new look. Highlight that work ensemble with a chunky necklace. Mix and match your essential pieces. How about slacks a cute tee and a vest. I also tried new color combinations. The color wheel helped me find the colors that work well together; it also defines complimentary and analogous colors. Color is my friend. Don’t forget about the shoes. I know there are some shoes in my closet that haven’t seen the streets in a while. Bring those cuties out and spice up that outfit. Change out your purse. Throw on a scarf. The possibilities are endless you are only limited by your fashion imagination. Remember fashion is not only about looking your best it’s lots of fun!

Whether you call it a “senior moment” or a “mind glitch,” the truth is that as we get older our memory and thought processes are just not what they used to be. A friend of mind claims that for the past ten years she hasn’t remembered the name of any new person she met. Another describes those frequent moments when the word is right on the tip of your tongue but for the life of you it just won’t materialize. Still another says her memory has gotten so rusty lately that her kids take advantage of it, sometimes having her believing that she approved an expenditure, when she can’t even remember them asking about it!

Just as daily weight repetitions in the gym strengthen certain muscle groups, mental exercises strengthen and enhance memory and thought functions over time. The following are some exercises you can use to increase your memory fitness:

• Do crossword puzzles and brainteasers on a regular basis.
• Play games that use memory like chess, bridge, or Trivial Pursuit.
• Memorize your shopping list by visualizing your trip through the supermarket. See yourself stop at each aisle putting what you need in your cart. When you get to the store, use your memory to select the items. Bring a written list along to be sure you haven’t forgotten anything.
• Each time you come to the end of a chapter in a book you are reading, imagine yourself summarizing it as briefly as possible to someone who has not read it. Do the same for the whole book when you finish it.
• Link together items that you need to remember into story form. If you need to do errands that include going to the hardware store, the dry cleaners, and the post office, your story might be: You get grease on your clothes at the hardware store so you must go to the dry cleaners. While at the dry cleaners you find an envelope in your pocket that needs to be mailed.
• When meeting someone for the first time, repeat her name as you are introduced. Ask a question about the spelling (is that Ann with an E at the end?) Find a distinctive feature about the person and picture it with the spelling of the person’s name. Associate the name with a song, a rhyme, or a celebrity (Example: if you meet someone named Marilyn, associate the person with Marilyn Monroe.)

Along with aging, memory loss is often the result of chronic stress. If you are going through a particularly stressful time in your life, you will most likely experience difficulty in remembering things. Try the following to help with the forgetfulness caused by stress:

• Put your keys in the same place in your purse and leave them in the same place when you enter your house.
• Try to park in the same place when using parking lots you frequent regularly.
• Keep a small notepad handy and write down things you know you need to remember.
• Purchase a small digital recorder or use the voice recording feature on your cell phone to record things that occur to you while away from home.
• Use timers to remind you of appointments and when you need to take medication.
• If you take more than one medicine a day, purchase a pill reminder box and use it so that you will not have to guess whether you’ve taken your medication or not.
• Slow down!

Sometimes memory loss is just a symptom of a too busy life but it also can alert us to a problem in the brain. Most of us have at one time or another worried that we had early Alzheimer’s Disease. Many parents and kids think of organized sports when they think of fitness. Though there are many advantages to signing a child up for the softball team, practice and games once or twice a week will not be enough to reach activity goals. In addition, parents can no longer rely on physical education in the schools to provide enough physical activity for kids.

Here are some ways to keep your kids moving at home:

Incorporate physical activity into the daily routine. From household chores to an after-dinner walk, keep your family active every day.
Allow enough time for free play. Kids can burn more calories and have more fun when left to their own devices. Playing tag, riding bikes around the neighborhood, and building snowmen are fun and healthy.
Keep a variety of games and sports equipment on hand. It doesn’t have to be expensive — an assortment of balls, hula-hoops, and jump ropes can keep kids busy for hours.
Be active together. It’ll get you moving and kids love to play with their parents.
Limit time spent in sedentary activities, such as watching TV, going online, and playing video games.

When you have exhausted the possibilities at home, take advantage of local playgrounds and athletic fields. Make family fitness outings part of your regular routine. Let family members choose an activity — go hiking, ice skating, or try out the rock-climbing gym. Anything goes, as long as everyone can participate.

You can help show your kids that exercise is important by regularly exercising yourself.

Fitness for Kids

Through physical activities, kids can learn about setting goals, meeting challenges, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the value of practice.

Keep in mind your child’s age and developmental level, natural abilities, and interests. Between the ages of 6 and 8, kids are sharpening basic physical skills like jumping, throwing, kicking, and catching. Some kids enjoy doing this in organized sports teams, but non-competitive leagues are best for younger kids. Show your support by coaching your child’s team or cheering from the stands on game days.

Kids who are 9 to 12 years old are refining, improving, and coordinating skills. Some become even more committed to a sport while others drop out as competition heats up and level of play improves..

It’s OK if a child isn’t interested in traditional sports, but it’s important to find alternative ways to be active. Encourage a child who doesn’t like soccer, basketball, or other team sports to explore other active options, like karate, fencing, golf, bicycling, skateboarding, and tennis.

2. 1/2 Grapefruit with 2 hard boiled eggs and 1 slice of sprouted grain toast.
3. Almond butter with Oatmeal, which can be topped with bit of Stevia for sweetening and topped with fresh berries.

Lunch
Again, you need to add protein in all meals. The easiest way to have proteins for lunch is to store leftovers from last nights dinner. Chicken chunks and pieces of fish, all are great sources of proteins. Just add them in your lunch over salads.

1. Cooked vegetables or green salad with lean hamburger with mushrooms and brown rice. Add 1 orange and have a great lunch.
2. Broccoli with left over chicken legs/wings and 1/2 sweet potato.
3. Baked Tilapia with sauteed spinach, green salad and chick peas. Add vinegar and oil as dressing. Take 1/2 pineapple after that.

Dinner
With dinner most people have more time than breakfast or lunch, so, you can spend little time and be creative with your least meal of the day. You can modify recipes that require little time. Always add healthy ingredient or your won’t lose weight nor remain or get healthy. Once again, do not forget to include carbohydrates and proteins in your dinner as well.

1. Rice pasta and buffalo meat balls with sauteed broccoli.
2. Green salad, oil and vinegar as dressing, with grilled Salmon over asparagus. You can follow that up with fresh fruit salad.
3. Or you can go for Mexican Salad, which is made from ground beef with shredded lettuce and tomato. Top that up with guacamole and brown rice.

Snacks are here!
I here you saying, what! Weight loss programs say no to snacks. I told you in the start that we will eat, lose weight and stay healthy.

Let me explain why we need snacks (not the kind most people have). If you go hungry for long it becomes difficult to follow meal plans to lose weight. Fashion Fitness

Since my cute dark denim jeans don’t fit what about the rest of my clothes? I was unemployed for eight months and so was my wardrobe. My fashion during this time period consisted of a t-shirt, hoodie, jeans or yoga pants, which are pretty forgiving. I would have been a perfect candidate for TLC’s What Not To Wear. Action was required. I needed to try on my clothes and make some executive decisions. I was afraid though. It’s always depressing trying on clothes that don’t fit, but it’s worse to keep them around and torture yourself every time you go to wear them. The adventure began. Many clothes ended up on their way to the Goodwill. I need to buy a few more pairs of pants since I was starting work. However, my funds were limited so only a few essential pieces were on the list. This too was a rude awakening as my pants size jumped up by two since the summer. The jeans I was trying to get back into were in the middle of the before and after so my goal was not unrealistic or unattainable. After this experience my motivation was intensified.

I feel I must interject my disclaimer before I go any further. My body will never look like it did when I was 20. I am a woman now and I have curves and to tell you the truth I love them. Gap even makes curvy jeans just for women like me. I know at what weight I feel comfortable and that’s what I am working towards. I will not be a size four. I know there are some shoes in my closet that haven’t seen the streets in a while. Bring those cuties out and spice up that outfit. Change out your purse. Throw on a scarf. Antibody study into autophagy reveals new role for HMGB proteins

The HMGB, or high mobility group box proteins in our antibody catalog are used in a variety of research areas, predominantly histone, chromatin and transcription research. Now, an antibody study has revealed a possible new role for at least one of the HMGB proteins: as a trigger for autophagy, or spontaneous cell death.

HMGB proteins are an important chromosomal repair group, known to also be involved in the transcription, replication and recombination of DNA. They are of interest to antibody suppliers as mutations have been implicated in the formation of benign tumours; HMGB antibodies are also expressed in patients suffering from autoimmune disease.

It seems that at least one HMGB protein – HMGB1 – plays far more than just a passive regulatory and repair role within the cell. It normally resides in the nucleus, altering the DNA to allow transcription factors to interact with other important regulatory proteins. However, in 2007, Sitia et al demonstrated the protein can act as an extracellular chemokine. Hepatic cells damaged by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) released HMGB1 into the extracellular fluid, where it recruited inflammatory mononucleocytes and neutrophils to the damaged cells, triggering inflammation and hastening their demise.

In the latest study, Tang et al set out to determine whether HMGB1 also has a role to play in the cytosol (intracellular fluid). It was discovered that although HMGB1 does not normally reside in the ICF, cells stressed by starvation released it there from the nucleus, thus triggering commencement of autophagy. Antibody assays showed that, in response to starvation, the nucleus increased its expression of reactive oxygen species, triggering oxidation of 3 key cysteine domains in HMGB1. This resulted in translocation of the protein to the cytosol, where it bound to Beclin-1, causing it to dissociate from Bcl-2. Normally, the Beclin-1/Bcl-2 complex inhibits autophagy.
